Qualcomm’s New Standard for Mobile Performance
Geely's Intelligent EV Charging Acceleration

The contemporary EV industry faces a critical challenge: even the highest-capacity batteries require significant downtime to recharge, remaining the primary psychological hurdle for the mass market. In response, Geely Automobile Holdings has unveiled an ultra-fast charging technology that elevates power management to a new echelon. According to internal benchmarks, replenishing a charge from 10% to 70% now takes less than five minutes.
The linchpin of this system is artificial intelligence. Unlike traditional charging methods, which rely on rigid, predefined power profiles, Geely’s algorithms operate in real-time, predicting thermal fluctuations within the battery pack. High currents inevitably lead to cell overheating, which can trigger premature degradation or activate protective systems that throttle the process. AI dynamically modulates power, balancing on the edge of the maximum permissible thermal ceiling, maintaining extreme charging speeds without compromising battery longevity.
This technological leap is the result of a convergence between software and upgraded infrastructure. Geely is deploying a new generation of "smart charging" stations with peak outputs reaching a staggering 2,250 kilowatts. Such capacity allows for massive energy throughput in a condensed timeframe, transforming the charging process from a tedious wait into a brief technical pause.
Real-world performance has been validated across the brand's flagship fleet. During testing, the Zeekr 001 sedan and the Lynk & Co 10 hybrid reached a 70% charge in just 4 minutes and 30 seconds. A full cycle up to 97% takes less than nine minutes, effectively erasing the convenience gap between electric vehicles and internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts.
This move is part of a broader strategic arms race within the Chinese market. Geely is entering a direct confrontation with BYD—the current segment leader—which previously introduced its own five-minute charging solution. Amid plateauing domestic demand and peak market saturation, technological superiority in energy efficiency has become the sole means of maintaining market share.
The rivalry between Geely and BYD has evolved beyond a mere comparison of sales volumes. It is a clash of engineering philosophies, where the victor will be the one who offers the most sophisticated ecosystem: from cell chemistry to intelligent energy distribution grids. The integration of AI into the charging process demonstrates that the future of electromobility lies not so much in increasing raw battery capacity, but in optimizing how that energy is managed.
