Anthropic’s Strategic Expansion into the Public Market
The global AI race is shifting from a contest of technical benchmarks to a struggle for financial hegemony. Anthropic is gearing up for an initial public offering that promises to be one of the most consequential events in stock market history. With a potential valuation of $2 trillion, the startup aims to cement its position as a central pillar of the emerging digital economy. Nvidia could serve as the primary catalyst in this trajectory, providing the strategic foundation and institutional credibility essential for such an ascent.

The modern AI market is witnessing an unprecedented concentration of capital, and Anthropic's upcoming IPO is set to be the culmination of this trend. The company's ambitions are staggering: aiming to raise up to $100 billion, which would push its valuation to an astronomical $2 trillion. In this deal architecture, Nvidia is positioned not merely as an investor, but as an "anchor" partner. A commitment of up to $10 billion from Nvidia is intended to send a powerful signal to the broader investment community, transforming the tech giant's participation into a seal of approval and a guarantee of the model's viability.

The bond between Nvidia and Anthropic has long evolved beyond a simple vendor-client relationship. It is a deep symbiosis where hardware and the cognitive capabilities of models evolve in tandem. The parties have already reached agreements where Nvidia expressed readiness to invest in the startup's equity, while Anthropic, in turn, committed to spending up to $30 billion on Microsoft Azure cloud capacity powered by Nvidia chips. This creates a closed-loop cycle: investments in intelligence stimulate demand for the very computing power produced by the investor.

However, Anthropic is playing a nuanced game by diversifying its technological dependencies. Its partner list includes Amazon and Google, while strategic collaboration with Broadcom helps optimize the development of specialized accelerators. The scale of these ambitions is underscored by an agreement with AWS: over the next decade, the startup intends to spend over $100 billion on infrastructure and the procurement of more than one million Trainium2 chips. This reflects Anthropic's drive to mitigate critical vendor lock-in and build its own highly optimized computing ecosystem.

The company's financial metrics exhibit the exponential growth characteristic of the AI "gold rush." As early as this spring, a funding round brought in $65 billion at a valuation of nearly $1 trillion. By the end of July, annual revenue reached a comparable $65 billion, with projections for 2028 placing the figure between $190 billion and $200 billion.

Such dynamics place Anthropic in the same league as the world's most successful tech companies. By seeking to surpass SpaceX's record for capital raised, the startup is effectively challenging established norms regarding the scale of public offerings. The IPO process is expected to conclude by November of this year, making this financial maneuver one of the marquee events of the US business season.
