The Price of Acceleration: CXMT’s Rapid Push into Memory
Hybrid Cooling in the Colorful P16 Pro

At the heart of Colorful's latest offering lies a sophisticated hybrid cooling concept. While most manufacturers attempt to push thermal limits by simply increasing heat pipe counts or expanding heatsink surface area, the P16 Pro Starwind introduces the Starwind S1 external docking station. This system transforms the laptop from a standalone device into a true hybrid: once docked, a liquid coolant begins to circulate through the chassis, allowing for a significant reduction in internal fan speeds without compromising peak performance.
The hardware stack is built upon a contemporary suite of high-performance components. Processing power is driven by the Intel Core Ultra 7 251HX, paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 GPU—a configuration engineered for an optimal equilibrium between power efficiency and performance in modern gaming and professional workloads. The system is rounded out by 16 GB of DDR5 memory clocked at 5600 MHz and a high-speed 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
The visual experience is delivered via a 16-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels. Particularly noteworthy are the 300 Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of brightness; combined with full sRGB coverage, the panel is well-suited not only for gaming but also for color-critical professional workflows. Despite these specs, the device maintains a streamlined profile, measuring 19.9 mm in thickness and weighing 2.05 kg. Power is supplied by a 60 Wh battery and a modern 280W GaN power adapter, underscoring a commitment to technological optimization even within the ancillary components.
From an engineering perspective, the thermal architecture suggests a strategic shift in OEM partnerships. While Colorful previously relied on Clevo platforms, the implementation of a fully integrated liquid cooling loop points toward a transition to Tongfang solutions, which traditionally lead the industry in developing complex thermal regulation systems for OEM laptops. The internal cooling array consists of five heat pipes and two fans capable of dissipating up to 150W in air-cooling mode. However, it is the activation of the external Starwind S1 loop that elevates the system to a new level of efficiency, minimizing the acoustic footprint and stabilizing clock speeds under heavy sustained loads.
The device's market positioning is aggressive: the P16 Pro Starwind Water-Cooled Edition 2026 is priced at $1,710. With sales launching on August 28, this laptop stands as one of the most intriguing technological debuts of the season, offering users the flexibility to choose between absolute mobility and uncompromising thermal performance.
